Lester Dent, creator of Doc Savage. Yes, he was a pilot--and a member of the Explorer's Club. Interesting jacket with some A-1 hybrid characteristics.

Wish it were possible to see the colour as it looks like that almost tan/yellow civvy cape 'A-1' that I posted from the Japanese site.

I have to ask -- do you suppose Dent flew the autogyro?

It was more prevalent in the Maxwell Grant (Walter Gibson) Shadow stories, but I've heard Dent and Gibson were friends.
