Is this vintage leather jacket real or fake?

Hello!
Today I went to a vintage store and found a jacket that I really liked. But I'm not sure if the leather jacket is fake or not, since i'm not really an expert. Those white spots on the jacket are making me a little bit suspicious and there doesn't seem to be a tag anymore. I looked up ways to tell apart faux from real leather, so I'm going to check the jacket again tomorrow.
I was hoping that someone in this forum could help me find out if this jacket was fake or real.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi
Welcome to VLJ!
Did you just have a question about this particular jacket, or are you planning on sticking around for a while as a new member of the forum ? It’s difficult to tell the composition of this jacket from photos alone . Particularly without actually holding the jacket at looking at the seams , surface quality and different areas of the jacket . Look inside the jacket pockets , the lining seams and collar areas for any rough edge areas that will provide some insight as to the composition of the jacket . From your photos it looks like a fairly in expensive leather jacket .Take some photos of the zippers and any name on the zipper, that may tell us something .

I think we are sometimes a little unfair to those non famous civilian leather jackets. Yes of course most of us here are after jackets with military background and history but that doesn't means that other jackets are lesser worth. A boringly ordinary leather jacket can be a great and precious item and a long time companion to someone who just wants a good jacket for what it is, without any historical background. I still have my father's old motorcycle jacket he wore for most time of his life. He loved it and so do I.
My opinion about that topic is general and has nothing to do with this particular jacket posted here in this thread.

Commercial jacket. Real as it exists.
Ahhh…. The Classic Cartesian Question !
How do we know that what we see around us is real and not some grand elusion ?
( Rene Descartes )
Ahh but we digress Steve !!
Our pain meds are kicking in again aren’t they ? ;)

The question we usually get asked is if it’s a genuine military or vintage jacket-which of course, it isn’t, but as to if it’s leather, fear not, it is. So if you like it, enjoy.

I completely agree with you . I think that if I came off as being a little critical regarding the jacket above, it’s because I tend to get a little frustrated with people who are “one and done posters “ or “ drive by posters “, who we make an honest effort to welcome and to share our knowledge with, only to have them join the forum by 9:am and be gone forever by 5:00 pm . Chances are that this gentleman has no intention of sticking around here and sharing any thoughts or exchanges of information now that he has the information he was looking for. Actually there may be one last posting…. asking the value of the jacket. If he did have intentions of joining he would have made a casual introduction either here or in the new members section. My sincere apologies to everyone who reads this, as I am not a judgmental person and I may be crossing some lines here. I realize I’m not an authority or in any position to criticize, but I just find it frustrating answering questions for posters who will almost certainly never reply , respond or join us as a member .
just my opinion…. sorry .
In the future it’s probably best that I leave “drive by questions” to those better adjusted to answer them than myself .

And I'm 100% with you when it comes to things you pointed out. That's just so frustrating but there are still a few guys out there who getting stuck with this forum and even try to bring their bits and pieces in.
My post wasn't actually dedicated to this problematic but was a simple try to take up the cudgels for those ordinary leather garments we are laughing so often about.
So please don't take offense on my post Burt, you have every right in the world to get your point across ;-)

Absolutely no offense taken . Your post was spot on and because of it, I took a closer look at myself and saw a need for me to change the way I handled myself . If anything … I appreciate you for motivating me to do that.
Thank you
Burt

Good Morning!
First of all i want to thank everyone who took their time of day to reply to my question, so i really appreciate it. The reason i came here was because I didn't want to get scammed by the store and buy a leather jacket that is artificial. I thought this forum was the perfect place to ask my question, since you all are really passionate about vintage leather jackets. I thought it was a harmless question and I didn't mean to harm your community in any way. I'm just someone who doesn't know much about leather jackets.
Thanks again and have a good day!
