Hello,

Here is a picture I've just found on Footnote.

I think it's interesting in several points :

- the 12th AF scarves : I've already seen such scarves for sale but never in a wartime picture. Now it's done.
- the patch of the 802nd Air Evacuation Squadron on the C-47. Never seen before.
- the jacket on the left of the picture, with a fur collar. Modified A-2 ?

The jacket on teh left looks like an A-2 other tan the collar. I wonder if it's some kind of fabricated detachable collar on an A-2, a wholly modified A-2 collar, or a private purchase version A-2.

Gone, but not forgotten.
It has a straight sided puller on the zipper, but yeah ... I think it's a field modified A-2.

I agree. It is a field modified A2, possibly a goatskin RW from the 18091 contract. Thanks Marcel for the pics of the no name Cable with the mouton collar. I remember when this jacket came up for sale.

At the risk of getting repetitive...

Take a look at the length of the collar of the 'normal' A-2...

Is it our leading GW candidate?

Well after doing some net search, and re looking at my "refference" to this unit emblem, I'm not 100% sure it is for the 802nd, the refference I had to it is it being the "Unofficial" emblem for the 35th Troop Carrier Squadron of the 64th TCG and they were a 12th AAF based unit , it is possible th3 802nd used the 64th Group for their evac ops , this is one of those times when you wish you had a "time machine" and could go back to when the photo was taken and ask them "what unit it really is !

If anyone has anything else that proves this to be one or the other 100% please let me know , thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
