Interesting G-1

I'm very suspicious of this jacket. It appears to be a much later example that has been "doctored up" with labels from a legitimate garment (other than a flight jacket, of course) as well as authentic-looking stencils.

Which also explains how a size 44 Long measures up as a 38, with a 21" chest, and 23 1/2" sleeves.

I guess this shows my continued gullibility at taking the seller at his word. Might this be a sz 40?

My goodness! What a mess. It is not from 1944, more like 1974. That collar is not Fur, it is synthetic. The pocket shape is post 60's. If that zipper replacement was a NOS Talon it was a waste, because it is surely the wrong model of Talon for a '40's USN jacket. To top it all off, I think he is trying to pass off the original modern knits as replacements, to excuse the lack of bi-weave knitting.

U-boat hunter indeed.....more like "You sank my battleship" for the buyer!

That's just pure fraud, plain and simple. The seller should be taken out and shot, or at the very least reported to ebay.

And the patches look very new too. Anyone up for sending them a message and tripping them up?

Stony, he said the patches were "reproductions" in his description, unless he has fixed the description and I now see the new one. But he admits to sewing on new knits, and the patches are repro's.

But, the jacket is all wrong, tags taken form other jackets, and the patches were not sewn on in those locations. The QPNAS patch would have been on the right breast and name tag on the left. So, buyer beware it certainly is not from the 1940's!

IMHO....

1942!!!! 1972 more likely. Clearly its been faked up to inflate the price. Let's hope no one gets taken in by this fraud.
