It's a dynel collar, so it's synthetic

Synthetic. It's a little scratchy for my liking, but it does the job though.

Some news. It will ultimately be neither. I visited a few sites during the summer and got some good deals, a Cooper G1 which suits me very well and which I find very pleasant as well as an Irvin lightweigt from Aviation Leathercraft. The latter is certainly not identical to the vintage model, but I find it superb and the quality is truly remarkable. What's more, I got it for a very good price.

I find the G1 goatskin quite light and confortable, does anyone know how dated these Coopers sold in the civilian market ?

Now il would like to found a goatskin A2 !

You're right, I bought a Cooper A2 from the 80s. I always look at AVI, its 55J14 and its ANJ3 catch my eye.
