Hans-Joachim Marseille jacket

I found this variant of the Aero Radjacke, with the collar!
The jacket seems way too big (I hope I don't offend anyone)... but it's interesting to know that there were some with a collar :

This style is the one Gerhard Barkhorn wore during his flight training classes before actual deployment in the Luftwaffe in 1940. I came across a photo of him on a motorcycle wearing this style. But after deployment all the photos of him he was wearing Military regulation, unless someone knows of other photos.

With all due respect to Mario the owner… the jacket shown is a Kletterweste … a ladies jacket from the young girls/woman organization..
Check its size and details if comparing whith the HJM jacket… flap buttons, position of flaps, buttons rows positions, sleeve straps, back seam ( HJM jacket has a horizontal back seam nno way vertical )… etc…
This one is another cosmetically reworked BDM Kletterweste…. surely no „ male „ ever used one of those :)

Thank you for this information Brice.
I only saw a jacket that looks like the one from HJM.
But what you say doesn't really surprise me.
... and at the same time I learned what a "Kletterweste" was.

It has been my understanding that the BDM Kletterweste was always brushed Cord NOT leather for summer and Suede leather for winter. I have never seen the HJ males or BDM female wear chromed leather jackets as Uniform. During the Spanish Civil War the Panzer Units/Condor legions wore the exact one as above. Hans Joachim Marseille wore the exact same style as the above chromed leather except it was made by Hilbert Chemnitz and had a belted cuff not buttoned. Hilbert Chemnitz made a ton of variations of the exact one above with Single/Double breasted, short or long flapped pockets, snapped or zippered. I own 5 by Hilbert of this style with variations and 2 very rare ones by RoHo and WICO and they were worn by Motorcycle riders in 1930's-40's. And a Gelmock from the 30's.

Is this not the same DB Jacket as above??? I have this EXACT SAME OUTFIT in Dark Brown and in a lighter brown both Chromed Leather and these came from the 1930's. In the late 30's thru 40's were added zippers. Sorry for this late response. Having so much internet and PC problems here. My AWESOME Gaming PC with all my Games, History, Art and (Porn ) was murdered! God hates me, sent a Lightning bolt thru my house during a storm over a year ago and killed it dead!

I have been following this thread with great interest since iam looking for a HJM double breasted brown leather jacket for some time. It seems to me that no one really reproduces them accurately, if at all.
The other problem is my size, i wear Aero Windward and Hercules in size 48. I would also opt for a repro motorcycle racing jacket (Rennlederjacke) from the 30ies, which looks very similar to the HJM Jacket.
They are wide colar, double row buttons and cuffed sleeves. I hapened to find one by pure luck in NOS in a vintage clothing shop in London 2 years ago. The staff did not have a clue, what they had hanging there. The jacket is a rather large size, although they were usually small, since people that flew or raced motorcycles were timid / smaller in statue. However, its not my size of course. I bought it because i had the idea to ask Aero or anybody that is working with these kinds of leathers to take it apart and make my size from an original pattern. Sadly or luckily, my daughter who is 1.81cm tall and was with me when i bought the jacket, put it on and it fitted perfectly. Needless to say she begged me for it and i agreed she could have it. I have tried to get the jacket back since i realised i realy wanted one in my size, but there is no way since i lamented on the piece continously, that she realised how rare it is. So iam turning to this forum to get some help with a similar jacket.
Is it possible to copy a Jacket from a sample and make it in a larger size without having to take the original sample apart?
Who can and wants to do it? Is the HJM Jacket anywhere available?
I will post some J-Pegs of „our“ racing or flying jacket once i get back from a trip by the end of next week.
Regards Randolf

Yes - the normal people for this are Five Star if you want a budget option. If you're willing to go all-out, John Chapman of Good Wear Leather might be interested in the style. I'd take some photos of it, contact Good Wear, see how JC feels about this style, and then, if you and he can't come to an agreement, work your way down the list - Aero, Five Star, etc.

..looks like a motorcycle jacket too me. I would guess that this type of Jacket came in use on racing motorcycles and aviation as well, although they might have been intended for different purposes. Shoulder flaps could have been added for military use. It was not uncommon to utilise clothing for different applications than initially or originally intended for.
Does my gibberish make sense?

Thank you Mulceber, if nobody else responds i will try your options as suggested. I wonder though why nobody else has done that before. These Jackets should be available unless there is too little buying interest or demand i guess.
