Every time I look at her think that she's becaming nicer every year... I've been wearing it for almost 4 years now.. The leather is the Japanese russet HH that John used some time ago.. The jacket was fit with one of the last (I think) Crown zip available that works smoothly as the first day!

That is a beautiful jacket. There is something about johns work which is just so eye catching. Never seen one in the flesh but from all the posts they just seem to get better and better.

I can see him now looking at the raw materials, carefully choosing within the minds eye where to position certain parts of a hide. At the same time how to be practical and get as much yield as possible. An good artist knows the focal points and composition, and I believe JC to be a master at this. Just as important as every brush stroke in a fine art painting, the character and grain of the hide is equally distributed throughout the piece evenly to esthetic perfection.

that reddish russet hh that john used was spot on for the 1401-p contract. i have a pre war dubow that john made for me about the same time, out of the reddish hh, and it has gone from the reddish russet to almost an ocher in some areas due to sun and wear. also, i asked for smooth hides, as many pre war a-2s were made that way, as that was the preferred hide while it was readily available. as production ramped up during the war the grainy hides were used more. the smooth hides used on my dubow have developed their own grain and creasing. i like the way yous looks, a lot. 4 years have really enhanced what was probably an out of the box kickass a-2.

More basset hound pics with or without the GW A-2 when you get a chance please. I had a tri-colored bassett several years ago too. ;)

There we go. Basset Hound & Beagle playing together. The Bassett is our guest for awhile and the Beagle is with us since 2012. They get along nicely and play all the day long.. :D

Nice jacket with wonderful leather structure. I prefer more the seal brown dyed A-2s, but this reddish-russet tone looks great! And your Basset Hound - what a lovely pooch :D ! Thanks for sharing.
