Re: GW Dubow size 44

By measurements a regular 44, not even close to 46. Dubow - got one - love it. Not as much as my A1 ;) .
Why would there be a 48 tag in it?

I agree Rutger, no where near a 48 the measurements are more like JCs tagged 46's ( wartime 44's) of which I've had several ...that said a great looking Dubow , personally I like them worn hard so the wear patterns on the arms look great to me...but each to their own of course ;)

Possibly the result of HWT?
You could be right Ian ...having worn my horse dull russet GW cooper ( wartime cooper) hard in all weathers rain and shine on my bike it still hasn't got the sort of wear the Dubow has on the arms so I did wonder what was going on with it !!

The windflap and zipper look quite puckered too, which is consistent with the zipper tape having shrunk a little.

Gents,

All valid questions. Just to give some history, a person bought this jacket, and said they were caught in a rain storm, and the jacket lost a little paint off the surface. They said the jacket seems to be a little smaller now, too, after the rain storm.

I wanted to make the situation good, so I took the jacket back, but the photo below shows how the jacket looked after the rain storm. You can see the results - the photos will tell a much better story that I ever will. Needless to say, we no longer accept jackets back without a photo of what happened.

The person selling now on eBay is the second owner, and had nothing to do with the first incident.

It looks like a nice one. I'll bet it had HWT, the shrinkage looks too much for just the rain............. maybe after the rain it was put in the dryer, who knows........

Again though, it looks pretty cool!!!

thanks for clarifying John

Must have been some acid rain?! Notice how it turned those selvedge jeans to chinos too?

SO All in all YES it was a dumbass, doing a HWT who had no business doing so... screwed the jacket up, and JC made it right with the guy. Seems like a pretty "stand up" thing to do on Johns part, at least IMHO. Though I do feel for JC that he was taken advantage of.

The fact that he thought he would get away with the "caught in a rainstorm" line, once John laid eyes on it is mind boggling, and makes me think of the little kid with the far-fetched story of how the window got broken. A rainstorm in Chernobyl might do that, but I doubt it... only heat being applied would make HH do that.

I think it looks great in the pics. I'm sure it was quite a shock though to whoever did that compared to how they received it new.

Well, I bought this jacket and I love it. I gave it a good feeding and now just plan to let it continue to age. I got in touch with the fine folks at Good Wear and they are mailing me a new size '44' label to replace the now inaccurate '48' and then this wonderful jacket will just get worn and loved.
