GW Dubow 27798 and RW 1401P photos added

And here, finally, after having traveled the Atlantic twice, are my two new Goodwear jackets. The Dubow I ordered direct from John, and is more or less made to measure, the RW was one of his "Jackets for sale" that more than one forum member dove for, but I got there first ;)
The Dubow is the new HH and looks absolutely fantastic. The RW has the older spraypainted finish. Just as original, but certainly not as beautiful, at least not after some considerable wearing and aging.
The Dubow is now my absolute favorite jacket: it looks gorgeous and fits like the proverbial glove.

When the jackets arrived (the day after my ELC B10 had come in), the girls were at my place, so I had my two enthousiastic assistents once again (and photographers - they took all photos of me wearing the jacket.)

How often do we get to see a sight like this one:

It sure as he.. felt good, as the look testifies:

Assistents at work, tearing at the boxes: who gets her jacket out first ...?
IMG_0016.jpg

Well, that was a close enough finish:

A sight to see:

The debris field:

Beauty in reddish russet dead horse:

Details; please note the attention of detail that John lavishes on his jackets: he faithfully reproduces the little pieces of supporting leather between the two outer layers of leather, to support the studs in the pocketflap and collar. I have never seen that in ELCs; Don't know if all originals had this, but it is an example of going the extra mile authenticitywise!

Love the shape of Dubow collars:

And now, finally: me and my jacket:

Some photos added (apparently can't get enough of that well clad heavenly body
The russet colour really stands out ("vibrant" would be an apt description) in the sun, even in the low autumn sun, that right now shines through my living room windows)

And now for some shots of the GW RW 1401P size 46 in the old HH:
The jacket is much thinner and lighter than the Dubow, and is an inch shorter. Nice summer jacket, I'd say.

Seeing these comparison pictures one might develop some (just a little) understanding for those pour souls who comment on our new trophy by asking, big-eyed, "What's the difference with your other jacket(s)???" :D Then we react:

A great series of photos Peter, all three jackets look fantastic. Brings back memories of when my girls were that age and used to get excited when I got a parcel; now they are both adults and the eldest has graduated with a degree in psychology so now all I get from her are medical terms for my jacket 'madness'!

Wow great looking jackets (including the B-10) and fit is spot on. Now you have to decide daily which one to wear. What a great dilemma to be in. :D

Excellent pics and it's great to share the love

Peter, seeing your russett Dubow makes me pretty sure that's what I want next as well and I really like the decal but I wonder whether it would limit the amount of time I would get to wear the jacket. The good thing about a un patched/ painted/ decalled jacket is that you can wear them almost anywhere to any occasion. I guess that just means I'd need to have two- one with and one without  .

Was that a consideration for you?

Also, did it come with the creased up arms or is that just from you trying it on?

My wife said that to me! And two A-2's and B-3 later I was half way to proving the point! Could not zip the B-3 up but
did keep her quiet for an hour or so.

Great Jackets...But I thought Santa was 4 weeks off at least?

Nice Pics...

Insanely jealous Couchy..

WOW!!! Nice jackets Peter. Yeah, how the heck are you going to decide which one to wear on what day? The mornings here are not into the high 20s so my Buzz B-15C would be the better choice, but I keep grabbing my GW A-2 instead. :)

Even though it's been well talked about the fact that few A-2s got decals, I still love the look on them. Hope you plan to keep the decal on there. Love that B-10 too! Have fun with your new skins.

Thanks guys for all your kind comments; for good measure, I've added a few more pics of the Dubow, and some of the Roughwear too.
I'll get into your questions later on.

Thanks Peter, btw the 1401 seems a bit to small, send it to me will ya? :D
Ah ha, you scoundrel! I see right through your ploy, as you were the one that hit on this jacket right after me.
And indeed: it is a stimulus to lose a couple of kilos around the waist, mainly ;) !

Hey is that a Suunto Vector you have on in the later photos Peter? Great watch not quite WW2 but sure has seen its share of action in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Suunto T6 heartrate monitor / watch; I use it when rowing and cycling. I looked up the Vector. Great stuff, but I need nothing as fancy or rugged as that, as my motorbike kilometers are ridden on tarmac in Western Europe, and Holland is sadly lacking of hills and mountains; the weather is very inconsistent though, so the barometer function would be a useful bonus.

It sure was, and I decided that I have enough unmarked jackets to wear on occasions that warrant them. The Dubow will certainly be my favourite wearer during my free time (weekends, days off, holidays) and then I don't particularly care what people think about my jacket. I wouldn't wear "Home James" with the "knee-ding a lift" pinup though.
BTW, the decal isn't holding up all that well, as the next photo shows, so the "limited use" problem might (dis)solve itself in a couple of months... :)

Good question: i looked at the photos again of the unpacking of the jackets by my girls, and sure enough, the creases were already there, but they are develloping rapidly, increasing in depth. Take a look at the photo with the caption "Beauty in reddish russet dead horse". I took that one the morning after the evening I unpacked the jacket. I had worn it during the evening and did not, repeat not wear it to bed.

I look for days with very changeable weather (and we have those a lot here in Holland). Every change in weather brings a change of jackets: B10 on, B10 off, A2 instead. Ah, which one will I choose. That last question remains, every time again ...
