Says he pre shrunk the hides before assembly
I wonder does hot water treatment work on an assembled jacket without the capeskin shrinking and changing he jacket size ?
Looks great

It will shrink the jacket, mine did slightly. Which is what I had wanted.

Actually, Johns description doesn't directly say anything about the hides shrinking. It says they thickened up, which may be a result of tightening and shrinking but is not actually mentioned. The results of a 'hot water treatment' are well documented on here and elsewhere and yes it will shrink an already assembled jacket.
I think the main reason that John tried this was to bring out the graininess of the capeskin. I guess I'll see the results first hand soon.

The new A-1 arrived yesterday and it's a great jacket that fits pretty much perfectly. John and I seem to be the same size so when he makes prototypes they are also going to fit me which is a big perk.
The leather is lovely and soft but still thick and slightly heavier than I was expecting. It also smells wonderful, that real 'new leather' smell. The grain is just madness. The color is an interesting mixture from light browns through to an almost cordovan shade in some places. I think it will wear really nicely and drape as a good capeskin should. The knits are beautiful too, nice golden brown and with a really tight, thick weave. All in all another Good Wear Leather masterpiece.

I'll post pictures as soon as time and light condition allow. Although I might not be able to do any better than the ones on the website.

Ok, here are a few quick shots of the new A-1. So glad I lucked into this one. I was not in time to get it at first but the original buyer (was it someone here?) backed out and I was next in line.
