Sometimes the best thing to do is immediately contact any national or local authorities to investigate the dishonest or fraudulent business practices. This will cause legal action that, as an end result, will give the customer full disclosure of products being offered. With today's business climate, federal and state authorities will be more than happy to provide their services as needed. Some are still open today, and others will be available tomorrow morning.

I feel that if it's that pressing a call overnight might be prudent...
OK, I promised no more...

Good one John. This is certainly the course of action that should be taken now. I'm just wondering what the costs might be. ;)

So back to my thread...I am pleased that most of you had some positive comments on my jacket..for those that didnt I hope I have clarified that the knits may look poor owing to my photography...not as has been eluded to,poor craftsmanship.
Johns site is quite clear on what hard wear comes as standard..I apologise if I have caused confusion with what I have written,so as has been suggested contact GW with your requirements...I will post some pics of the jacket being worn soon...and wait for comments good and bad.
John, the jacket, knits included is fine and I am more than happy with it

The knits that John has been using for the past two years are high quality and about as close to originals as you will get. I believe they are from RMNZ. It might be worth mentioning that there was variation in the fine details of original knits. I really do not think John Cook's picture does them justice. There are plenty of close-up pics on the GW website though.

Saunders...apologies I don't know your first name,I can't see on the GW site wear it says the jacket comes with a Nos Talon...I think the 27752 header implied the contract was originally fitted with a Talon not that it comes with one
There is a page offering different nos zips and prices...as I have said I asked John for a Nos puller and unless he cares to advise if he did a full zipper replacement I can only assume he got hold of a puller for me
Hope that makes sense and anyone feel free to interject if I am wrong

Thanks for your tenacity in fighting with your phone phone to make the replies here. And you can just call me by my surname; mother didn't give me a first name.;)

I get what you're saying, though it's still confusing to me how GW doesn't actually show the customer what they will get, describes what the vintage A-2s were produced with and the GW model jacket as depicted, but only refers to the standard zippers as "reproductions" and displays no images of these zippers. That would be as vague as describing the hides as "reproduction" or "reproduction leather." I find this potentially misleading, and very poor in communicating information when asking customers to spend huge amounts of money. Even U. S. Authentic shows the zipper you actually will get in your jacket. The GW practice is unacceptable and dubious to me, and I can't imagine anyone accepting this from any other maker, especially ELC, given the rancorous exchanges I've read on this forum.

Wait, so my GW order of a '38 Aero or '39 Werber with Angora knits, YKK zipper, and Alpaca lining is NOT legit? WTF? I thought this John guy was on the up & up? I think I'll be making phone calls first thing in the AM!!!
And HELLO Avirex - I am going with the "Real Deal" this time.

Mr.Saunders, if that is your real "name," relax. Like many of the folks here, I have done business with GW and have been completely satisfied in all aspects of conducting said business. I can't say the same with another "high end" jacket maker. The GW site is very straight forward and informative and cuts through the miasma of buying a jacket. Finally, if one is unclear about a description or detail, ask. One doesn't need to be "Perry Mason" in this endeavour. I have the thought that you enjoy "stirring the pot" as it were or you have a "h...-on" for GW. I as others have suggested, contact GW directly to share your discontent if that is the case.

Cheers,
Don

I don't understand the zipper flap. (Ha ha!).
Much ado about nothing.

On the "How to Order" page of the GW site, it specifically addresses that reproduction zippers are standard (come "free") with your order, and lists the price of "upgrading" to NOS zippers;

http://www.goodwearleather.com/pages/order.html

If you have ever placed an order with GW, you would know that you have to fill out a "specification form", listing contract, leather choice, knit choice, and type of zipper (reproduction or NOS), with the prices for a NOS zipper listed.
I had no problem grasping the concept that GW offered different zippers when I placed my first A2 order. Didn't come as a shock when the jacket arrived with a very good reproduction Talon.
And the knits have held up beautifully over the past 2 years.
Don't know where John gets his knits from..but I wish I had them on all my other leather jackets that have knits.

As the saying goes....nothing to see here folks. Move along.
