That's a sharp jacket! Looks like a great fit for you as well. It appears to be a quality goatskin. Congratulations to you.

Your new no name 23383 jacket is just superb. JC has nailed this one. All the details are correct including the early deco Talon zip. :)

Very good (as usual).
What's with the Union tag, I suppose that's a period addition and not from nowadays?

If you're going to wear it a lot I'd be curious as for how it will look in a year or so.

Look closely Rutger, it has GW stamped on it, a repro period tag perhaps?
If so, a nice touch and that I'd like on my Doni...

The Union Made Garment tag was present in originals from this contract. JC has added GW to it-a nice touch IMO.

Oh well delete than from the Doni...
Very nice touch - agreed.

Might even stop some rascal selling it off as an original in 10/20 years time.
Otherwise with at level of age and its wear and tear over that time it would be hard to tell for many

Or 5-10 years - I'm not that patient ;)
And I do wear my jackets day in, day out.

Oh I like that. I like that a lot.

Another one to add to the ever growing list, that may even take priority over the Doni (Sorry Ian!).

+1 big time. I love the fact that John initialed it. Nearly my favorite detail of the lot!

Thx for all the kind words guys. I feel like a million bucks with this in my collection. Absolute no question that this is a keeper for me (which I havent been able to say in a looooong time :D)

I would suggest this contract to all- especially for those looking for one a bit different from the norm both as far as overall details and distinguishment from other repro makers (think JC is the only one making this, no?).

Also, the goat is killer. Definitely holds a candle to the (albeit few) original hides I've handled. Thick thick stuff.

Looks absolutely great
not one of the jackets we see very often, a very nice choice

I am not very familiar with the contract but notice many details are done differently than other makers. Very interesting.

One small thing tho, you/the jacket don't look like size 46 to me. What's the story there?

Lots of Fried Ostermann topic traffic this week. Nice GW. Here's a link to Prostaff's original. The photos of my original that I included is I believe one of the jackets John used for the pattern on of his 23383.

23383's' are interesting and very cool A-2's with a fit/drape all their own............

Congrats

Platon, not sure. I was able (and fortunate) to buy this second-hand, and not sure what's up with the marked size. It is and I am a size 42, though. Anyone ever run into this with Johns jackets?

Jacket looks great. Although, the pics of you have me amazed. Don't take this the wrong way, but with your baby face and build, I figured that jacket was a 38/40. You are a big guy in disguise! Congrats on getting it. I know the final decision was a tough one. Enjoy!

As to the size, tags are an almost meaningless measure of a jacket. What I've seen of JC's jackets is they're true to size or maybe one down. I tried a 48 that was more a 46+, sadly.

Cheers Scott! I get ID'd everywhere I go  I am a true 40, or 42 in VLJs.

And the beauty of me getting this jacket is i remain in JC's queue for a custom built one (I live nearby, and am gonna get measured up by the man himself). Now the challenge is I'm even more confused about what to get: currently considering a modified Arcadia with either sleeve conches like the Ventura, or with a throat tab like a G1; or should I stick with a Dubow 27798? I feel like Homer J, "Doh!"

It's a ridiculous choice isn't it? I got carded on Friday night for the first time in 20 years. I told the guy I'd buy him a beer and he said "just be a nice customer". I complied, but I had to laugh. I was carded until I hit 35, but then not much more. You have a tough choice ahead, but I would go opposite of what you have now. Something in a dark HH. I'll let you pick lol
