This will be of little to no help....but I've found it to be true.
Photos can be incredibly deceiving.
Depending on how well a jacket fits the person it is on, a crappy jacket can look great or a great one look crappy.
Especially with custom made jackets.
I like the Dubow design for, as the GW site notes in their description, their "wide comfortable sleeve tops".
This is generally not something you can see on photos of A2's
I am big shouldered/armed and like room across the shoulders/sleeves.

The photos John has on his web site are very good. Much better than what most folks post on forums.
He also has a "customers photos" site with some good photos of customers wearing his different designs.

Generally when somebody says they "really like" a photo of a repro A2, what they mean is they really like the way the leather looks, it's color, and the color of the knits. That is NOT the jacket. That's what's used to MAKE the jacket. You can use the same leathers you think are "gorgeous" on any pretty much any of the contracts (with GW, within the bounds of what the original contract used.)

I'd recommend talking with John about what you are looking for FIT wise, sending him photos of you in a T shirt, giving him your measurements, asking his recommendations as to which contract...., then deciding on the leather/knits.
He will make recommendations based not only on your body style, but your head size and amount of hair you have! (The size of the neck hole/collar/collar design can have a big affect on how it makes your head look.)

Re; GW's M422's...I own a couple....all purchased used....far and away the best repro's I've come across.

Having said that, I'd look for an original in great condition. MUCH less expensive...and, original!!
(Heresy here for those of you who are sticklers..I'd include Pre contract "D" G1's with vintage mouton collars in the search. I know, I know, not quite the same design as a M422...but for the VAST majority of folks out there, close enough to where it doesn't make any difference.)
Re; A2 vs M422/G1....I wear my A2's MUCH more than my Navy jackets. More appropriate for more situations.

I own quie a few originals 10 in total ranging from the m-422a to 7823(AER) all in a size I could wear. But I don't wand won't, at least not regularly enough, I covert them to much to worry about ruining them some how.

I wear them occansionally, but some are so perfect it seems silly to wear into them.

I have two other repros I wear and will wear alot, but have looked at johns M-422 since I found Goodwear and thought, 'One day'. Seen as the prices are going up I thought, now, same for the A-2 won't be able to justify the price in the future, and its gonna make me stop buying while I whittle away time choosing the perfect jacket, and saving up.

As for jacket, the Dubow 20960 seems to be the way to go, it's a 'slim' design, and I like the details, the pocket shape right down to the label, but there is so much choice, the 36 Werber is nice, but think the collar snap might annoy me.

What I really wanted was an opinion of those who own it, how it feels to wear, etc.

I have the russet 20960 (Converted into a doolittle jacket), and once owned the seal. The Seal is shinier (self-evidently) and more pliable than the russet, but only just a bit, probably due to the shiny finish making the creases more evident

The 20960 is a more "round" cut around the belly, so to speak, it gives a lot of room.

I am not a neat picker, I stick with the WW2 concept, when a young soldier was thrown a jacket, no time for the kind of nit picking nowadays, and I feel happier.

I do like the Dubow 20960 in seal but my original request in with GW is for a RW 27752 as I just love the contract (currently own a ELC RW 27752 in warhorse) and also John's seal horsehide looks just perfect, however I am not sure what will happen when I start my discussions with John around May time ( I have already been waiting 12 months) as to his recommendations on contract choice based on my measurements.

John recommended the Dubow for a slimmer physique, that and the '36 Werber.
Colour is a stickler as I have a Kelso (which I haven't even worn yet, photos in this repro section) and I want an A-2 to compliment that by being different, which I why I am leaning towards russet or light russet, though the seal is very nice, I don't want to have two jackets with the same colour. Variety being the spice and all that.

But it does all come down to measurements. I'll have to ask for some samples really

I have owned a GW20960 in seal for about two years. The jacket is definately trim. I am very pleased with it overall. But I would ask Mr. Chapman to give me just a bit more room in the pits were I to order another 20960.

I also have the GW27752 in dark seal OD thread. Love this model too. It is roomier than the 20960 and more comfortable in comparsion. There have been a few times where I have grabbed the 27752 over the 20960 because I can layer a bit more. Not that the 20960 is uncomfortable to wear at all. Just a noticeably different fit. Good luck with your choice.
