Get away with wearing a crusher

I have only known *one* person who could get away with wearing a crusher even sometimes.
The extenuating circumstances were many.

It was 40+ years ago.
She was a sound and light technician in a community theater.
She was a butch lesbian in an open relationship.
And the crusher had belonged to her dad, an actual WW2 veteran.

My grandfather wore caps like these. Back then in this area they were called 'motorcycle caps' from what my aunt told me.

I ought to make up something along these lines just for fun. I've never been overly fond of wearing hats, but while wearing a stereotypical ball cap on vacation recently, apparently it looked OK from what my wife said. Maybe it's just because I need something to compensate for less hair.

She wore a crusher, or her name was "Crusher'"?
