Thoughts on the use of a G1 in milder climates? Love the look but pretty mikd in the bay area here in norcal, albeit cokd in the winter. Worried a fixed mouton color may be too warm

I was looking at a double helix collaboration if I want to go more modern twist but the usual:
Aero, cockpitusa, schott nyc, maybe eastman

The US Navy used them during the Vietnam war… ( basically in all conflicts in Asia since 1935 ).
By experience, Vietnam can be very very hot and very very humid…
Still an original pre-1971 Vietnam war original is absolutely wearable even with the collar ( made out of mouton).
The pre-1960 versions are even better ( more comfy ) since the liner is of better material….
Originals only.

Hi guys,

Since this topic is about G1's, asking the connaisseurs this question.

Ever seen these dry clean only tags on an original G-1?

FYI, I'm looking to buy an original 70ies one for, let's say, regular wear.

Dry Cleaning tags are used only on civilian versions afaik. I've seen a lot of conflicting information on these jackets. One noted they are in cowhide, but that wasn't used on these jacket contracts (only goatskin). Another noted Brill re-issued some in the 1990's with the older label. And so on. Wish I could provide a real answer, but don't know. "Buyer beware" is always good advice.

Get the jacket if you like it. If wanting a military-issue make certain it ticks all the "this-is-legitimate" boxes (not just some). I know a few here prefer the 7823C and earlier, as the synthetic mouton was permitted beginning with 7823D. Jan will post the 7823 series soon, so you might want to wait and read that first.

That's why I popped the question here first.
Would like an all original one. Send the question to Jan also and answered about the same thing.
No rush... Will take my time to have a look around, and who knows something might pop up here.
Open to offers. WTB Original 70ies G-1 in wearable condition
Thanks.
