Yep, and they ran small in the chest and shoulders, but a bit more true to size in the sleeve and back length.

I’ve never been into navy jackets ( Tom cruise ruined that avenue for me) but watching all these g-1 posts for a couple years, they seem to be generally very reasonably priced. A fraction of a-2 prices. Is that due to the long manufacturing run and larger availability?

I think it’s because the G-1s , although they are more comfortable and easier to wear , never really had the history and “Cool Factor “ that the A2 had . As a result they just never really caught on until the last 5 or 10 years .

Leather looks good but be aware that the buttons of the front pockets are most likely a replacement. Originals don't look like that.

Have to ask, Why would a couple buttons missing even be an issue?

I like a project either way...Nothin' like a good 'lived in' Jacket for my collection at least.

Because it is a matter of personal preference and certainly there are different types of buyers in this market.
There are buyers who don't mind buying a project jacket like you, and that's fine, you should buy it. But there are also the so-called 'purists' who prefer an item as original as possible, with no replacements nor missing parts, unless it is an extremely rare piece.

Not everyone wants to deal with repairs nor sourcing original parts. That takes time and/or costs money if you don't have the repair skills.
