I think the one front right with reddish knits could be one of the run of 30 Security Aviation Togs jackets done for Junky in Yokohama.
I think one of these jackets has been pictured elsewhere here,......does Asiamiles have one?

Yes, I have one though I can't tell if anyone's wearing one in that photo...your eyes must be better than mine! Was actually tempted to bid for a size 38 SAT A-2 a couple of weeks ago as the price was pretty reasonable and I was interested to see how the fit compared to my size 40 but it didn't appear to have the riveted zipper as found on my Junky version - making it immediately less appealing than the one I already had - so I decided to pass.

FROM THE LAND OF THE SETTING SUN:
Tell ya what, hombres: a group shot of a twenty or thirty of us, say, the West Coast VLJ, all in our GW's and Aeros, Eastmans and Langlitz, Monarchs and original issues. Man, we wouldn't need lights. The glow from those jackets and our smiles would light up the sky for miles. Embarcadero, San Francisco one afternoon or early evening while the days are yet fine. And then adjourn for liquid refreshment to a convivial spot, of which there are many here in Fogshire.

I was watching a documentary on the Atomic missions called White Light/ Black Rain last night. It opens in modern day (2007) showing the city, presumably in Hiroshima or Nagasaki, and they are asking teenagers or slightly older what happened on Aug 6, 1945 and all they got were stupid looks and smiles because they had no idea.

Let me tell you, I'm as pro-Atomic mission as anybody who is into WWII American history, but watching that documentary is pretty heartbreaking for the civilian survivors' experiences. My wife made me turn it off. It got pretty heavy. I've still got about 40 minutes left to watch, but especially after seeing the first hour, the opening sequence of the teenagers just blows my mind even more.

I've seen that program a few times. Maybe I'm just a mean bastard, but I felt no sympathy for the residents of the bombed cities. And before Bill jumps in, I know were treading on thin ice when this topic is discussed.

I'm sure American teens are equally ignorant as Japanese teens. But that's not because history isn't presented to American teens, they just don't care to learn.

Hi, Folks,

I can see this taking a header down the drain - lets just stick to jackets and keep the historic hindsight for elsewhere.

Thanks,

You're right, it very well could do........ I've picked it up some way along from the original post. I'll delete my previous question,
and let the thread get back on course. Thanks Bill.

Dubow knits will often age to a berry colour, but I guess that any wool can fade/oxidise.

Usually the Dubow knits had a purple tinge which Aero's berry knits lacked. I have seen original "true2 berry knits on a no name 25573 jacket, but this is highly unusual.

Great idea. But everyone should wear an original A2 to be different from our friends from Japan! ;)

The boots are all either Whites, McCoys or Lone Wolfs. The guy very front right is sporting a pair of Alden split toe shell cordovans. ;)

You're completely sure there are no Doc Martens in there at all, eh?

Sure .... that's what I call berry, it's the rust colour that I associate more with Aero.

But David there are so many different varieties of berries growing at this time of the year in the UK, which ones are you referring to? ;)
