David,

Thanks for posting those links -- especially the collection. I notice on the D-1 the hanger chain is on the outer back of the jacket. Something discussed previously.

Cheers,

Mac

I still don't understand the fascination of all things American by the Japanese.

Or fluorescent orange A-2s for that matter....

LOL! They are ugly aren't they?

~Swing

I, too, was thinking the same, and also LOL!

To the fascination -- many of the boots I see look English. ;)

Chandler.

A few cool jackets (on the link) a lot of rather "off" looking ones including many high dollar RE/FEW/McCoys. That said, at least these guys are enthusiastic about vintage Americana. Do we see this interest and enthusiasm from our youth here in the US?

In the section of originals, there's a fairly obscure unnamed 42-18246-P A-2.

CBI: Good point about the interest in Americana. I would guess that there's actually a larger following in Japan than here in the states given the number of companies related to that area. And it's not just jackets but e.g. look at the number of Japanese vintage denim makers.

Hell no! They're too interested in crap like Ed Hardy, flat brimmed baseball caps, and horribly predistressed "denim"! We have a generation growing up with little or no taste in clothing, music, film, etc, etc. "All the kids will eat it up, if it's packaged properly"

flat brimmed baseball caps,

Oooohh -- now you've ruffled my feathers!!

Then again, my generation was partial to Oshkosh painter's overalls and bell-bottoms -- and we survived! ;)

I honestly think that it just takes time for youth to grow and embrace "classic" style.

After all, you and I are almost 20 years apart, aren't we? And we have similar tastes and interests. There's probably some kid born in 1998 eye-balling a nice A-2 right now!

You're welcome, Mac .... yes, The Few seem to have already made every possible variety of D-1. I've seen the external chain version, with it's HH reinforcement ... thankfully on the one I chose, the chain is internal, and a little more discreet. :)

They sure look bright, but we've discussed before the affects of the lighting, and flash photography.

I like the lighter hides ... I have the samples here, and the colours are much more normal in person.

I know what you're saying and agree -- to an extent, but note the subject second from the left in the second row, wearing a caramel color A-2 that doesn't come across as odd as the others.

And I see what you mean, but we don't know what colour his jacket is in natural light.

They need to come back .... daytime .... take more pictures. :?

Just for reference, here's the 2008/09 Few leather samples, natural light, just chucked on my living room floor ... two top rows are HH.

The background is my light russet A-1, the really light coloured sample is natural undyed hide.

I visited Japan this summer and you really have to make an effort to see "all the Americana". Sure some wear jeans etc but
it's not like all the Japs are into American stuff...not by far. They dress modern and then there's this bunch...

The boots are all either Whites, McCoys or Lone Wolfs. The guy very front right is sporting a pair of Alden split toe shell cordovans. ;)

Subject second from the left, second row is Takeshi Fukushima, a super nice guy who works in construction, I met him in '07 and this April again.

Amongst the 'brighter' coloured jacket I see, there may a McCoys civi "Drifter" jacket and I think the one front right with reddish knits could be one of the run of 30 Security Aviation Togs jackets done for Junky in Yokohama.
I think one of these jackets has been pictured elsewhere here,......does Asiamiles have one?
