Turns out the correct pit to pit is 22 inches so that would make it a size 42. Too big for me so I asked for a refund. A case of the seller not knowing what measurements match what jacket sizes. It's relisted on Etsy, if anyone's interested, but is still described as a 40, guess they don't take my word for it.
