I was hoping to see an original done with yellow soutache braid for the border and bolt as in this patch.

I believe the patch on Ebay is all leather. I can't see any soutache on it. I have never seen an original 23rd with soutache, though of course some were supposedly constructed of bullion.

Now that I take a closer look, you may be right. I've never seen one in soutache either, but you never know. I have seen enough CBI stuff to not rule out anything. Straight from a vet once, his Perry A-2 with patches hand stitched on with white dental floss ( looked more like he did with his toes ) and the pocket repaired the same way. The patches had MG holes around the edge from previous patches. the jacket had his name rubber stamped under the tag, and years later I found another name faintly visible down the liner along the zip. It puzzles me, why the shortcut with the thin strip vs. a cut out lightning bolt if pretty much on track with the rest of the construction?

No..it's blue..! Was it you that asked the same thing on another thread about a similar patch? Perhaps need to adjust your moniter...

I've now looked at that photo on three different monitors and an ipad screen, asking others to look too and they see what I do. It still appears to be a dark chocolate brown background. Not that it matters. I know they are usually blue.
