Nice looking jacket Walt but I'm with you regarding the hide, it is a little "too" grainy in places but I'm sure that will balance out when the rest of the jacket catches up with those areas. The packing is a wee bit disappointing too but Shawn is never far away from these posts so I'm sure he'll take your comments on board. Everything else looks great tho and I think the knits work well with the Seal hide. I'm guessing the hide is chrome tanned? I see on their website that they do a semi aniline goat in russet and I'm wondering if they do the same in Seal? All up tho, and like you say, its a lot of jacket for your 250 quid and to 90% of the population it probably looks no different to the Aeros, Eastmans and BKs.of the world.
regards
Garry
BDM, I'd be interested to see your "Thug Goat" jacket when it arrives. Shawn has a few models that appeal to me and I'd like to see how a number of his jackets come out.
Cranking jacket Mr Proper. I imagine with it being goat it will be pretty supple regardless of the weight? I’m trying to work out the colour of this jacket, is it an aged black??
no, the vest is made of Capeskin (soft lamb leather). that is softer and thinner and much lighter than the goat. Good as a vest, it would be too thin for a jacket (for me). The seal brown of the vest is lighter than that of the jacket. It looks magnificent mate. Is your Fivestar vest made From the same hide.
The colour is a very dark seal brown. I like this almost black, but not entirely black very good.
I will try to take a photo that shows the colour more clearly.
The weight is almost 2 kg.
In terms of stiffness, it is a bit softer than my HH jackets, but still firmer than my cow or lamb. It is soft but not lumpy. That's why I ordered another jacket made from this leather.
the client is always right, and since someone ordered this, she probably wanted exactly that.
But if that’s what was ordered then so be it.
Yeah, I think this women’s A-2 jacket messes with the formula much more than it needs to. Of course, if that’s what the customer wants, it’s what the customer wants. But going forward, I’d say just develop a women’s size chart for the A-2 jacket: same basic fit and proportions, just smaller sizes and significantly shorter. @JimO is right that length issue. My wife can find an A-2 jacket that would fit her in terms of pit-to-pit, but the arms would be bunching up something crazy.
