Just a tiny bit of shorter and pointier pocket flaps? As an absolute newcomer to A-2s I only reference to the originals you posted.

As someone who did not have one before, but planning for the near future, I will keep an eye on this one.
Looks promising! Very nice prototype.

Shawn has come a long way in a very short time, if I was in the market for another A-2 I’d be following the development of this jacket with a view to an eventual purchase. However I have an A-2 already that needs wearing to death. I don’t have a ‘Californian‘ though and see Shawn has started producing them :)

Shawn, you have done an amazing job! All things considered....

One point, the waistband, just make sure its the correct height (it looks slightly shorter than the original) and not too loose.

Can you see on the original how the leather is bunched up a bit at the back, and creases form? If you tighten the knit slightly, this will happen naturally.
Thanks for the suggestions, not a big deal, I am going to make a second copy of this with some improvements today. will show you results soon.

Reckon a 42 would do alright. Threw my coin boxes across across the counter at the teller today. 2018 - 2020 worth of $5 notes, $2, $1, 50c, 20c, 10c and 5c coins. A healthy $740! That is a Five Star Dubow or half a Few A-2 right there... Send a link Shawn.....

Here is the detailed size Chart for Dubow A-2.
Hi @Shawn Ali !

Thanks for posting the Dubow size chart.

Are the measurements listed those for the actual jacket or for the wearer's body? The reason I'm asking is that they are quite a bit different from the "generic" A-2 sizing chart on your website. The website chart also includes a "Suitable for Chest" measurement which is very helpful in that it gives you an approximate starting point.

For my Doniger & Werber, we started with a size 40. From how I'm interpreting (actually guessing) the numbers on your Dubow chart, we might have to start from a size 42.

I realize that A-2 patterns differ and you were able to design your Dubow jacket off of an original. Would you please clarify the best way for us to find our size? Perhaps if you were to also include a "Suitable for Chest" measurement on the Dubow chart, it would help make things clearer.

Thanks!

Jim

Yep, I'm pretty sure Brett's correct. Especially in the chest measurement, it's almost identical to other manufacturers of this contract. It wouldn't be a bad idea to include a "suitable for chest measurement" column in the table, like you do for a lot of your other jackets though.

Just the jacket dimensions? That's not a good idea, unless the manufacturer wants to have to re-make a jacket later, or prompt the customer to buy a second one later in order for it to actually fit.

@Shawn Ali-

When you get this improved second copy made, would you please post an image of the shoulder/arm junction and one of somebody wearing it with their arms raised, just like the two photo below?

Before placing an order, I would like to see how rounded the shoulders are and if the new pattern causes any bunching of material in this position.

And like Brett & Greg, I'm also anxious to see how the tightened waistband knit turns out.

Thanks!

Jim

Dear Mr. @JimO

Thanks for your detailed message and concerns, I was continuously working to resolve this problem, and today I am making a new Jacket with some pattern amendments, from your images it looks like the problem arises due to two main issues, Armhole Depth which should be more relaxed and should allow some flexibility, Second problem through draping the pattern I am improving is the corners of the epaulets I am making them more in round look to avoid such problems in the future, For the better understanding what we are doing to improve things I highlighted our patterns with the Red Outlines which we are improving for a best fit and comfort

new ammendments11.jpg

Above highlighted area will be reduced for a better movement of Arms.

Shoulder will be more rounded than boxy like below image

New square shoulders.jpg

We added this highlighted Red sp[ace to make the shoulders more rounded.

I will also post some images of end garment.

Best Regards

Shawn

Guys,

just some update shots as teasers. Obviously, somebody here has decided to be "first mover" and ordered a Dubow in the "revised pattern update version"...the customer has supplied a zipper and his own knitwear, so we will see how that looks when it's ready...

I am still waiting for the necessary fit pics, but this is what we have now:

There should be high-def fit pics within the next hour or so.... I asked for some advice on what the leather actually looks like, as the color varies a lot depending on the artificial / natural / flash lighting conditions...
