Hi Dear @CBIvery impressive, so how much does this 5-Star jacket go for new?
jackets always look better with a filter or 2Got soaked in a rainstorm yesterday. Seems to have brought out a lot of grain and character. View attachment 24731View attachment 24732
This looks like Sheep Skin. I don't see any of the characteristics of genuine Capeskin.
From my experience, it would be nearly impossible to make a Genuine Capeskin jacket at this low price. It is not a cheap hide to buy, and is very difficult to source.
1. I'm not only a vendor I'm a collector and I have been a member here for around 8 years, long before I was a jacket maker.
2. This is false advertising and some who pass through here may not know that this "Capeskin" is not genuine. I think we owe it to them to call this out.
3. I am not saying anything about the jackets that I make. This is not about sales or an agenda. Just call apples, apples. Don't misrepresent the hide to try and sell jackets.
AFAIK, Shawn makes it perfectly clear to forum members exactly which hide they will receive (The case with 5 jackets I purchased through him).
Dear @Technonut2112I'm a moderator at a much larger forum than here. One of the policies there I find appropriate is for vendors to stay out of other vendor's threads, and not mention their goods in the general forums. That kind of discussion is limited to their own sub-forum (which they pay for).
All of the Buyer Questions are most important for us, We never regret to answer any of the questions from the buyers, sometimes we sell one jacket after exchanging more than one hundred emails with a single buyer.I absolutely agree with that.
Shawn is incredibly customer-oriented, answers every stupid question and makes transparent what you get and what you don't.
Absolutely exemplary.
I once read about the Capeskin that this used to come from a goat from the Cap of Good Hope, but nowadays it is rather a very soft lamb leather. I think this term is not protected and can and will be interpreted.
Dear @SmithyI was saying here back in 2018 when there was a lot of hoofluff going on about another maker, that it would be good to have rules for vendors here and still stand by that. It never looks good, no matter what the reason, when it appears a vendor is criticising another vendor and their products publicly and especially in thread directly about the other maker.
