Whilst there are others here who have handled far more wartime A-2s than myself, we had 4 wartime A-2s at the aviation museum I worked at and interesting on every single one the pockets were slightly out of alignment - one side being slightly higher than the other and this wasn't from leather folding due to wear. Flaps being larger than the pocket was another thing. This obviously is by no means an exhaustive study but it was an interesting thing to note on the jackets we had.

I think this Poughkeepsie looks great and well done Shawn. I was going to pick up one of these but put the money down on a GW deposit.

If you go back and look at your sample, you will see you did not sew the spec tag in as is the common way on this contract.

The tag is sewn to the lining with a stitch that starts on the lining itself (from above), goes onto and around the tag, and follows the starting stitch line back up.

This happens before the lining is sewn in.

I have a Poughkeepsie on the way. Shawn emailed yesterday and said he will have production pictures to send me in a day or two. As far as I can tell I’m going to be the first kid on the block to get one. So, stay tuned as a review/fit pics are coming soon!

Total custom size. I’m too big for off the rack. My shoulder to shoulder measurements alone is 24.5 inches.

The Poughkeepsie has a very nice style. The leather is not quite the same color as the original pictured beside it; it looks somewhat purplish. The example on the Good Wear website is quite a bit more brownish, which would be my preference. I'm very eager to see what the leather really looks like as people start ordering these, especially outdoors.

The original looks redyed. There is a pic of the inside of pocket and its much lighter.

You're right! The little tab inside the pocket of the original does look pretty close to the color on the Five Star repro. Thanks for pointing that out.

No I asked for the more commonly used olive drab. But it is what it is
