hello , I think all is the titlle . I own an old Pearl Harbour ELC and they definitely need some new knits ( see pics ) . I know a good leather craftsman who ould do the job .
I'm living near Paris , so in the European market , I saw some in ETSY but from GB . The price is afordable but I would like to leave all the customs taxes and TVA plus delay .
Anyone have photos of jackets that had the same job on ? ( I saw a thread on fedora lounge , but rather to ask the question here ). The prob arent the holes but there is no more elasticity.
ThanX ! UPDATE : It seems that the same type of question has been posed earlier this year . Not quite the same . I found a link , this is it , what your thoughs ?

So, those ETSY knits, stay away. Far away. They have a seam, as you can see. Not authentic.
Original knits do not have a seam. Your ELC deserves better.

Your options:

1. Get a local person to carefully darn the holes. Kick the problem down the road.
2. Send the jacket to ELC, they will replace the knits and do a proper job of it.
3. Purchase replacement knits and roll the dice with someone near you. Do it properly or you could devalue your jacket.
(Look at the recent Monarch G-1 post, B-Man just posted. Look at that horrible overstitching. You cant undo that).
Replacement parts from Eastman, MASH Japan or Headwind mfg

Thank you for the advices ! about the 1st solution , I will ask to the craftsman I know . About the second , it will coast an arm to do so . 3rd , it's what about i'm thinking after reading your response . Puchasing the replacements from ELC or Headwin . ELC I think , the 3 A2 I own are ELC , except a 5Star .

Obtaining tube knit [no seam] cuffs is easy from the places Brett mentioned but buying lightweight items like this from the USA is not to onerous with regard shipping & taxes. Finding a local worker competent in splitting one of the seam linings, turning the jacket inside out then dealing with stitching the combination of leather, cotton and wool will be your issue. It's not that difficult for someone with the right gear and experience. The results ought to be satisfactory.

it's not that hard just source the knit you want Then find a good person who will be able to use a sewing machine . i mean someone like a seamstress who will adjust the point to the existing stich on the garment. Before doing that all by myself it cost me 50/80 euros to change all the knit.

If you do buy the knit and want the job done by a pro, there's a chap in London who can it perfectly.
Postage to London and back, should not be much from Paris.

Those knits are repairable if you want to delay replacing them. I wrote a couple of posts a while back on how to fix knits without sewing them . If you have some time you can review the procedure here.

Thank you ALL for your wises responses ! I will take each of them and think about . My first though was to change all the knits and I think I will stay on this 'cause the real problem is not the holes but the fact that the cuffs and belt knit a=have lost their elasticity and are just too large by now.The bottom of the jacket hangs straight down, which is not very aesthetic to my taste, I prefer it to be tight. I think I will ask to ELC house to get some new knits ! It's always a pleasurer to hear from you all . Still a lot to learn from you !

Sent my well hammered A-2 back to ELC where it was born and they revamped it. Happy with the cost given the service that A-2 gave.
Thank you bn1966 , I will ask ELC customer service about the price and all can be done :) I love this jacket with a good natural patina .

Updates . SO I asked to ELC about te options to get a set of replacement by doing the job by my own way with a craftsman or muyself ( !!!) or post the jacket to ELC to replace . I wanted to have another choice and so ased to 5* who responded promptly ( as ELC ) .. It apears that for the same price I can have two sets from 5* . Super fast communication ( question was made this morning at 7.00 AM , deal was concluded 1 hour after .
Both customer services are great , and I think both cuffs and knits quality are quite the same level ( perhaps a ++ for ELC , but who really knows ? ). I have choosen 5* 'cause of the price but I think that if I were living in GB I'd go to ELC to do the entire job , for sur . Brexit sucks .
Have a great Friday !
