Empty wardrobe for flight jackets

For the first time in 39 years I am nearly out of flight jackets, my last A2 a buzz ricksons rough wear sold last week..
My first jacket was way back in 1980 was an RAAF nylon concord L2, they had a plastic name plate holder with orange ling and where normally worn with a sqn patch sewn on and rank sliders on the epaulettes.
I am one of those has always had a hard time it hard to sell anything but a wardrobe full of jackets that don't fit and that I hardly wear anymore finally makes no sense to me anymore, better to haver less that you actually wear.
The problem is the climate in West Australia where I live now is not exactly what you what call jacket weather, anything with a fur collar or fleece lining is not practicable and M442-A and G1s where always my favourite leather flight jackets.
On the old forum my main interest was nylon and G1s due to originals that where reasonably priced back then as they where more within my budget, in those days before the brosnson jackets the old alpha replica series where great value compared to BR.
The navy m421 would be the most wearable here but until someone other than the Japanese starts to make a half decent copy I won't be buying as they are too expensive for a very basic cotton jacket for my taste, a very weak Aussie dollar makes everything expensive for me now.

I still am in the process of clearing out my non flight vintage leather jackets but still have eight left which is probably still too many, if I could wear them even day it would be different.

Next purchase will probably be a brosnon L2 and will be on the lookout for an A1, the last jacket I have left is a brosnon goat A1 which is good value for the price but mine is a bit too small so it's going as well, I found I really liked the style but I did not think I would the buttons alway put me off until I actually wore it.

I don't think an a2 which has never been my main focus anyway will be on the list unless a bargain comes up.

I don't see the value anymore in buying BR when bronson and bog dong make pretty decent jackets now, close enough is good enough for me at those prices I have never been one to obsess over minor details unless I am paying high prices then I demand it.

I feel for you Flynny. WA is an oven. One good thing with Melbourne was that at least you have a few months where you're guaranteed to use something like an A-2 but if I'm honest I didn't wear my Irvin very much, occasionally in the garden on spectacularly chilly evenings but there was no way I could wear if all day.

Actually an A-2 isn't a bad jacket for Melb, you can pretty much get away wearing one from April to about late spring and varying what you have underneath it.

There's a lot of things I miss about Oz but the climate is not one of them, I'm a winter person through and through.
