Hi Andrew

What are the measurements on this jacket please?
I normally wear a size 46, does your jacket run true to size or hopefully a little smaller?

Regards
Burt

Burt, I briefly owned one of these last year in a 48. Great jacket but I prefer the real thing so it's gone to a better home.

Here's a post about it which gives the dimensions. I take a 46-48 in A-2's and I would rather have a 46. IMO the arms aren't right and the underarm gussetts are oversized.

Thanks for the information.

We are about the same size, I'm 6'2", 104 kgs. I also wear a 46 but was hoping that they run under size a little. The photo looked like a good fit but, I guess you would have liked a little trimmer fit.

I'm still thinking about it as I would like an ELC Irvin.

Thanks again
Burt

I'm sure you'd like it Burt, just no where near cold enough here for one of those. If you were to layer the extra would probably be perfect for you.

(...and as of today i'm still the same height but now 93kg and dropping.... ;) )

Do you actually wear the original every day? The Brit sheepskin is so much better quality as far as durability goes, but I would still be wary of using one in real life.

BTW here's a comparison pic of the 48 ELC to a pre-War. Same body length, shoulders and chest but supersized arms.

I have two that I can wear without fear of damage and they are both pre-War. The skin is much thicker on these than the usually wrinkly thinner skin of most Wartime jackets. I have a 1941 Wareings and a 1944 no-name but I wouldn't trust wearing either of those for any occasion despite the '41 being in relatively "new" condition. There is just too much difference in the qualities of the various panels so whilst most of the jacket may be like new you might have one section which happens to be in a location that needs to perform which also happens to be thinner and that's where it's likely to go first.

The type of wear i'm doing is very light with only occasional use in the MG and there's very little movement needed.

Top two are pre-War and you can see that the skin is generally thicker with these.

Also shows the weird shortness of the ELC belt............. beautiful jackets Andrew.
