They hide the bidder here in the US as well......eBay claimed to many buyers were getting phony second chance offers....BUT.....eBay was losing to many sales to off eBay deals so that's why they REALLY changed that practice!....

Exactly! And shill bidding = higher sale price = more money to eBay...so why try to prevent it? Just like the "look the other way" policy regarding the sellers of pirate/bootleg DVD's.

I'm not sure if you will be able tro get this outside Australia but there is a 10 minute discussion of the upcoming Feebay scandal on the ABC website. You don't need to let it all load to hear it. The relevant bit is from 25mins in to 35 min. so click on the slider bar to 25min.

Thanks! The "listen again" option was for a different show but the "download audio" worked fine. The eBay talk is at the beginning though, not at the 25 minute mark; the discussion about the Japanese legal system, that follows it, is worth a listen too.

Has anyone thought of the other side of the coin ?
I think that Paypal will soon only be a money transfer system within ebay transactions.
A forum member recently sent some cash and there were terms and conditions, one of which was that payments can be reversed. This was a transaction between two individuals not connected in any way to ebay. They are tightening up on all money movements.
