Found this on the internet a little information on the Redtails film
Redtails is a film about the Tuskegee Airmen being developed by George Lucas. George Lucas has had discussions with Samuel L. Jackson about Jackson acting in and possibly directing the film, and also sent him the script to review. Jackson praised the script, and suggested Lucas could mentor him through parts of directing such as special effects, though Jackson is not yet committed to either role.[41] The film has been under development by George Lucas since 1990.[41][42] John Ridley penned the most recent screenplay draft.[41] Lucas says the film is close to production as of August 2008.[43] Location scouting was taking place as of June 2008 in Prague and Italy, and filming may begin as soon as late 2008 or early 2009.[44]

Being every so slightly involved with the film, I have to say that they seem to be doing one hell of a job getting the technical details right and I have to disagree a little with "old" cast members. About half those listed are 25 or younger. They are trying to keep everyone pretty young as per the period if they can. There is nothing big ticket Hollywood about this one, even the budget is modest. They seem to be trying to get it right and simply telling the story of these guys and what they went through on an emotional level. I would say in some respects, the combat is secondary. I have been REALLY impressed with how much solid knowledge the film team has amassed in such a short time. My suggestion is to stay positive about this one. Yes, Hollywoodisms may appear but I think their intentions are very good to "keep it real".

Just remembered that at GML Christos kindly got the signatiures of 5 Tuskegees on my GW United. It will be interesting for me to see if any of their Characters feature in the film. CBI, are you able to say what Sqn's you painted?

Cool autographs!!! I have William Holloman and Charles McGee signatures on this print by Robert Taylor called "Fighting Red Tails" Not the best photo of it. The other photo shows this print in context to my study! In re my patches for the film. I think I need to hold on that info however the units would be the ones one would expect in re Tuskegee squadrons
On aviationarthanger.com there is a new Tuskegee print by an artist named Rick Herter. In the description of the print he makes reference to being contacted by a director in regards the Redtails film in 2008.

After hearing for years the Tuskegee airmen never lost a bomber to enemy fighters while on escort duty ,I now find this MSNBC report from the Tuskegee airmen historian who has been researching the records from bomber units they did infact loose some (posted AP new 2006).Although there contribution as the little friends is well documented also their heroism ,how did this come about and why are we not changing the records . Will the script incorporate this new info or do we have a Memphis Belle type rewriting of history with the film soon to be going into production .Heres the link

15,553 sorties 170 escort missions 450 pilots ,why was it none of them became aces .Was the highest kill tally 4 enemy aircraft to one pilot .Did the Redtails have such a reputation that the germans stayed away from them ,they got a unit citation fro a 1600 mile roundtrip escort mission while with the 15th air force .Its a shame that none of them made it to ace stature they well deserved it .

I dont know about the half of the cast being younger than 25 ,I checked all the cast and 2 were less than 25 and the rest were 28 to 40ish not well known actors either so why could they not go with younger guys ? .Or is this a actor union thing ,shame I am sure there is so much talent out there in the 20 to 24 range .The film industry would probably tell me to shut up ,and this is the reason we ask the people involved in the film not to leak info on the film .From the info so far some of which I have not posted from my RADA buddies I hope they are wrong !but it has for me gone from exitement and at last someone is going to do it properly to I wait and see it on DVD that somone else bought .Jeff
