This is how an A2 jacket should fit.

NOT WARTIME YET! BZZZT!!!

Edit: But it's apparently an Aero 40-3785P, which, because it has no metal zipper footings or topstitched knits, functionally IS the first "wartime" A-2 variant.

Unless you look at the wartime photo in the AN-J-3 Jacket Thread posted next to this one

Tell it to the 687,275 other guys in the other photo threads who missed the memo ;)

I think it’s a good “average” of fits, although if worn with modern jeans many here would find it short. Not me though.

I've just remembered where the middle picture came from
The jacket was sent to us for repair, the collar had been cut badly, had a 2" square piece missing and was totally beyond repair,
We spent ages trying to find a suitable match from new or vintage leather to make a full replacement collar from.
We were very pleased with the match
Customer wasn't happy at all...............which was very dissapointing, I thought we'd done a pretty good job, even recreating the creasing that the original collar had developed

wow! an unappreciative customer I would say. perhaps he would have liked it better in the damaged unrestored condition. what a nut! I think it looks fantastic! I would never had guessed that was a restoration replacement!
