^ I bought them in Japan, about three years ago.

When Converse went bankrupt, Nike bought them in the U.S.

But in Japan, a whole different company licensed the Converse name instead of Nike, so they have the rights to produce whatever they want over there. (As a side note, that's why Converse USA is quite revered over there, because it's harder to get.)
