Hey!
Posted yesterday about a AN-J-3 Willis and geiger jacket which i bought. Well it just arrived and it is
incredible! The leather is soft and sturdy and the overall integrity of the jacket is intact. It seems to have had
a life of use with a replacement liner, zipper, knit and pressbutton (see pictures). All done by an
happy amateur.
And to my question, could it be a military issue? I base most of this on a similar observation that @mulceber made on his AN-J-3. On the epaulettes there are distinct marks that some sort of rank insignia (see pictures showing the marks and the directon of the puncture hole in red) has been attatched. Of course there is no tag, as seems to be the case with these jackets.
Is it possible to identify the rank insignia based on the direction of the puncture hole and the shape of the marks made by it or is that abit of a stretch? Could it be something else that has been attatched at those marks?
Full picture fo the jacket!
Epaulettes with marks, could be hard to see on the picture..
Description on where the marks are.
Picture showing replacement liner and the color of the original liner.
The original color is more in line with what ive seen on other examples.
Picture showing replacement zipper.
Fit!
Very happy with the jacket either way, might try and restore it at some point.
Thanks!
