Civilian fleece jacket vs ECWCS GEN II Level 3

Hi everybody!!!

It's time to replace my extremely used Columbia and North Face 300g fleece jackets and I was wondering about buying an old black ECWCS GEN II Polartec fleece from the Us Army/USMC.

I have some questions about:

1. Are this military ones thicker and warmer than the civilian ones made by Columbia, North Face..?

2. Are they windproof?

I have a couple of military issued fleece ECWCS jackets. They’re good jackets but they are meant to be worn as part of a 3 piece cold weather clothing system. They’ll do ok individually but there are better commercially made jackets available .

Those black fleece jackets were the heat back when the war kicked off!

Are they warm? Yep!

Windproof? Hell, no.
