hello all

yesterday i was in Chièvres .
two good reason for that.
first - reopening of the museum - you remember, Fabrice (check6) work there.
and second, the most important - take care of a guy who did a long ride expressly for the occasion.
Kenton is the son of an armorer who where based with his unit 368FG 396FS at A84 .
some month ago, Kenton found me on a well knowed social net .
he write me this one

after that, i took contact with him, exchanging some mails and than also putting him in contact with Fabrice.
he also send me some photos, his father is on the right

some of those photos are present on the 368th FG site

his father in front of the house where Suzanne (his girlfriend) where living.
this photo was used by Fabrice to found infos about her.

those days, Kenton was in France for duty and decide to come to the museum.
he wish to see a part of his father's history.
and also offer a book he wrote to the museum.
Fabrice will for sure give you some details about that.

whe had chance yesterday with the weather, blue sky, sun and we make a little trip around the old A84 airbase.
little problem, no acces because this base is still in use, and of course no much remnants.
but kenton was satisfied and happy to have done this in a Willys.

Love this photo Marcel. At first glance, I thought the rifle was an M1D, but now I'm thinking it is an M1C (very expensive). Most evidence points that no M1C or M1D saw combat action in WW2, although some books say a few made it to the Pacific.

Great story and photos Marce. Thanks for sharing. ;)

update :

today i receive a large brown letter.
what a good surprise.

last time Kenton went home, i ask him if it's possible to have a signed photos of his father.

this is what i receive

large size (A4)
Loyd3jpg001.jpg

medium size (A5)
Loyd2jpg001.jpg

Loyd1jpg001.jpg

also a recent patch they use during veterans reunion
368fgjpg001.jpg

when i will make my room (works scheduled for this winter season), i will make a small place to honor him; as did Check6 in the museum at Chièvres.
this will be my way to honor all Air Force guy who serve during WW2.

with the two books i receive from Kenton; i think i have everything regarding this armorer; Loyd L. Baughman - 368FG 396FS

by remembering him, i remember all guys who serve in the Air Force. from the pilot to the crewmember, to the ground personnel without whom no plane can take the sky.

it's a pleasure and an honour for me.
