Brill Bros. G1 jacket

Gents n ladies
I picked this G1 up at an estate sale for $80.00, it’s just about in unworn condition. The original owner was a navy pilot and flew A-6 intruders. The gentlemans name was Stevenson ..he passed away. This jacket was in a closet on a hanger I’m guessing for many years. The jacket is in mint condition except for the knits…looks like moth holes? There is no damage or wear on the leather at all, no smell either.
I have a Star G1 and the leather color is much darker, the Brill bro is a light reddish brown…more on par with an A2. Can anyone give some info/ history on this jacket? Was $80 bucks n ok price? Please advise.

Hi
You did well as far as the price you paid for the jacket. As near as I can tell your jacket was made around 1972 or 1973 and is in very nice condition. The knits are easily fixable and you will get a lifetime of wear out of that jacket.

Hi there mate!
You picked up a steal for this Brill Bros G1!
I've got a slightly earlier contract made by them and I've got to say that your one has a light shade of leather than mine, which looks fantastic since it would "wear in" well
As for the knits.....it's not too difficult to find replacements (depending where in the world you're from)
But if you're trying to get the period/contract specific knits then you'd probably have more trouble lol

You did great! Does it fit?

The moth holes in the knits would bother me, so I'd get them replaced, but that's easy to have a pro do that for you.

Ordinarily I will darn moth holes if they’re not too bad, but that’s a lot of holes-and the jacket’s in such good condition otherwise I think it deserves new ones.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info. The jacket fits perfectly…. I couldn’t have order it this good. I live in southern Virginia..Chesapeake right next to Oceania Master Jet Base. This entire area Chesapeake, Norfolk and Virginia Beach has a lot of Navy and a lot of jacket buying opportunities. Thanks again for the info…I’ll wear it a lot I’m sure…when it’s not 95* n humid as Southeast Asia..lol
