The image here is of William Bendix who was a stalwart of Hollywood. He seemed to feature in all the good war films. Here he is in ‘Blue Dahlia’ 1947 ish. I saw the film recently and it definatly is and A-2 he is wearing. The film also features Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake.

I agree about the Aston Martin......It reminds me of the Austin Healey Mark III I used to own back in the 1970's. I wished I never sold it. Mine was in the gun metal metallic blue. Back in the 1990's my ex wife and I met Ralph Lauren and his wife while we were in Belgium. We were spending the whole summer in Belgium and one of exhibitions being put on was a exotic car show and we went to it. He was wearing Jodhpurs, hunting jacket and tons of scarfs. I thought it looked so cool and asked him all about where he got them. ( At the time I did not know what Lauren looked like ) He said he had his made. He arranged for me to get 2 pair once I arrived back in New York. Since then I wear Jodhpurs, and people here in Texas look at me so odd.

It is wild to also think that Cowboys wore jodhpurs late 1890's thru 1940's. Seems a lot of our history and culture of Vintage clothing and the VINTAGE Jackets are disappearing! The first photos shows Cowboys going to a Black Tie Formal! Notice the Jodhpurs? These FINE Gentlemen are showing off their best boots, fine threads and the best of headwear! My kind of crowd! What makes it even better? You can easily wearing those nice short VINTAGE A 1, A2 and other racing jackets with them! TIME TO BRING IT ALL BACK INTO THE MODERN ERA !!!
