Woops wasn't leather..View attachment 86656View attachment 86656Paul Simon. N-3B?
Don’t worry about it. I think it’s an N3-B, I’ve sniffed around and seen an alternative photograph (with a dog), which shows a bit more of it, including the sleeves, which have internal storm cuffs as opposed to exposed knits. AFAIK N-2B’s had the exposed cuffs.Woops wasn't leather..
Love it! "worn by the donor" hilarious! That’s interesting thanks for posting that. I knew that his jacket was located in the National Air Force Museum, I snapped a picture of it during my last visit . Here’s a close up for you Bretta.

Looks like his cohort is wearing roughouts or boondockers.there is another picture with James Dean in his N-1 showing it better,
but still a nice one

90% sure it's a Spiewak. Always with the raised epaulets. When I moved to SF in 1978 I was able to get 2 Spiewaks with thick goatskin. I spent hours wetting the eps and trying to get them to flatten out...Ron 'Pigpen" Mckernan , original member of the Grateful Dead wearing an original A2 jacket with a CBI patch.

Here's me in 1979 with one of my Spiewaks. I made the blood chit and the CBI badge on the sleeve. In real life it was dark russet- not a redye as it seems. Thanks, I have other photos of him with the jacket on, always wondered what make it was.
Both of my Spiewaks were very small in the back of the collar- 2" at most raised- and then swooped to a deep pointy collar. Don't know if there are repros which do that. Here's me in 1979 with one of my Spiewaks. I made the blood chit and the CBI badge on the sleeve.
