Looks very nice. must let us know down the road how the perm marker wears. Here my humble attempt at the stenciling the obligatory USN on my Avi which I received just a few days ago.
I went a different route as I could not find any modeling paint but did find a permanent marker in silver. Online the company reassured me that it was weatherproof and suitable for leather. I figured that with a marker my sausage fingers were also less likely to make a pigs breakfast of it not having to try and brush clean lines. In the end it was straightforward and, with rubbing alcohol, you can easily fix small bleeds.
Thanks to all who prepared and provided stencils on this thread (@Ritchy and @coolhandluke).

BrettThis is Jules Bloom's AVI M-422A. He replaced the knits and added the USN stamp behind the collar.

A year later, worn a ton and still as on the first day. No issues with the marker rubbing off or onto the shoulder leather it touches.Looks very nice. must let us know down the road how the perm marker wears.
Hi ! Silver or white ? How did u “aged” it ? TIAHere the post about the collar stencil. I studied pictures of original G&F M422a's to get the size, color and font right.
After drying I gave it a good aging. I think it came out nicely.
Here's my version:

Too many questions.. it’s a specific font or “free hand” stencil ?silver and aged it by slightly wiping over it with a cotton pad soaked with a drop of nail polish remover
Just silver, and the font was indeed created "free hand" under comparison with originalsToo many questions.. it’s a specific font or “free hand” stencil ?
Also, did u apply white paint first or just silver ?
When we rebuilt the L-5 I managed to get a lot of specs on stenciling sizes, fonts and colours by writing to the Smithsonian institute. They have many original specs in their files. Possibly for jackets too?I did a few typography tests (out of curiosity), and the Arial font seems to be 95% suitable. Arialen Bold (not Regular or Black). But maybe others have found better. Of course, you have to respect the spacing of the letters as shown in the image.
On the Gordon & Ferguson M-422A (NXs. 416), the paint is matte silver, there's no white. I think it's best to paint directly in matte silver.
Here's a little comparison between Arial Bold and the original typography. It's not perfect, but it's close:
