Funny, but Ive been wearing my M-422a a lot this week also.
I think I’m going to go horsehide A2, but I’m afraid it won’t be as wearable as this jacket with the bi-swing back.

Heres a quick comparison between AVI's M-422A and an original mint Ralph Edwards '63 B series G-1
The colours are not corrected, AVIs jacket is closer to my Star G-1 than this RE.
Mouton, well AVI somehow has access to incredible vintage mouton.
The leather is the same thickness, although AVI's feels softer and more pliable, the RE feels a bit stiffer and tougher by comparison.

Nice Brett, I'm not a authentic collector anymore, budget and space, it's why my collection is just plain old vintage that and wearability in Spanish tropical weather, but I definitely appreciate the porn/eye candy from you guys

Thought I'd post a comparison between my two AVI M-422As.
Both are size 42
Top one is my first, its AVI's standard M-422a with the lighter seal goat.
Lower one, is the more recent one that has the slightly darker seal goat (ANJ/ G-1) with mid brown thread.
This one was a bit of a 'custom'... requested change of leather and had a bit of length added to sleeves and fits me slightly better.
Interestingly enough, Ive now been able to compare these with my original Star Sportswear and Martin Lane D series G-1s, and the leather is the same thickness and weight.
The original G-1s leather is a bit stiffer and has more grain overall, plus a few decades on the AVI's
Newer one with darker seal left (bottom), first one with lighter seal right (top).

Nice review Brett, butt I'm still uncertain about AVI's Seal color. I have one of their 1st. Improved batch M422a's and the color of it wasn't to my liking so I did a redye job.
In general I think AVI's color was too grayish and on the pics of your newer one it looks even more grey.
All original jackets I've seen are brown, some lighter some darker but always a kind of brown - never a gray or almost black finish.
It is called seal brown not seal gray.
Just my 2 cents

Yes, cant argue with you.
They look fine in person, but both my original G-1s are 'browner'... The lighter seal is closer to the G-1s.
There are a number of ways to warm the hue and I may do so down the line.

This jacket is up for sale, reluctantly.
I need to refurb 3 original G-1s, and thats gained to cost me $$$£££
Plus, have a couple more A-2s on the way. Something has to go.

Trying to figure out the measurements of a size 48 vs size 50 .
