i discover this photo

i think the guy on the right is wearing a Mackinaw.
but a Mackinaw and a flight helmet??????
is this guy a pilot or a mechanic trying to protect his head from cold weather ????

I would say he is ground crew. Looking at his greasy coverall/pants, and there is a pilot in the picture already. Seems like a crew photo, armorer, crew chiefs, radio, etc. ground guys wore flight gear because it was warm and available.
