Another crazy price for an Irvin

This Irvin sold today for an OTT price (£1320), which is the highest I have seen a wired jacket fetch. The jacket in question is patched and well worn, but it is size that seems to count these days. Sadly the behaviour of those who pushed up the price of that huge mid war Irvin to nearly £2K the other week have raised the bar so high putting larger Irvins out of reach of many.

Haven't xl Irvin's been getting above average prices for a while now?I seem to remember one selling for over £1200 2-3 years ago on 'the bay'.

Yes, when I looked this one was about £900, which I thought was daft then. Much nicer ones have gone for less.

Lazy, foolish buyers and daft prices. They can be bought from online dealers for less.
Just give me ONE address where I can buy an original pre-war Irvin size 50-52" chest for less. ;)

Remember the GBP has dropped a lot in the past couple of years and the price of repros has shot up. Maybe buyers would rather spend more to get an original ?

The jacket in question here was neither pre-war nor a 50-52 inch chest.

Regardless, you could start here:

There have been several Irvin with the same spec or better recently sold on this site for half the price... a size 7 sold a few days ago.

Here's the next largest they've currently in stock at 700 quid:

Seems they get a couple in every month.

The reality is simple. Very large Irvins are few and far between and fetch high prices unless they are in poor condition. I have been watching the Irvin market for several years and apart from a few exceptions few go for more than £1k. I suspect the mad price of the mid War Irvin from 10 days ago has temporarily inflated the price of large Irvins. Until very recently the prices of Irvins sold by on-line dealers were higher than Ebay ones, but everything depends on size, condition and style. Early two panel ones are among the most sought after. BTW the best time to buy an Irvin is in the summer.

Yes, they are all coming on Ebay now. Neither of the two jackets mentioned above are as large as the one which sold for nearly £2k recently. The one being sold by the UK seller with a £1,200 BIN may prove to be over-priced.

Those jackets aren't particularly large and have issues so I really don't see them fetching big money but as I need to sell a few (not that I want to) this might be the time...

Sorry Soren, this is my biggest, suitable for someone 6'2 to 6'4" but not your chest size. I'm 6'2.5 and a 48 and it'd be ok for one size up i'd say but I don't think it'd quite work for you.
