Another B-2 or is it?

This one is from Germany. There is only one picture but the seller says he will supply more. Its a three day listing with $1 starting price. BUT if you look at the pic of the other one on Ebay it would appear to be identical. I think the seller has copied this picture. This always makes me suspicious and it has been done before by Ebay scammers. This seller's feedback looks good though. Perhaps he is just too lazy to take his own photos?

Ah, you have edited the post. I'm just back from comparing the pictures ... yes, they are the same.

How can one possibly bid on a vintage jacket when the picture is "stolen" from another listing? Its not a CD or book when you can use generic pictures on Ebay. Yet someone has already placed a bid.

Way too suspicious, and the presence of a bid means nothing when he could have got a mate to put a bid in to pull in the punters. If I was the original owner of that photo I'd be on to eBay to pull his listing as it breaches copyright.

I have already done so but past experience with this kind of thing is that nothing happens unless several people do the same, unless of course you happen to be the person who owns the rights to the Irvin trademark.

I didn't end after my complaint to Ebay. Here's their feeble reply:

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to item number 250522805796 with
Image Theft issue.
I reviewed all the information you sent, but I don't have enough
evidence to show that the seller violated any eBay policies.

Sometimes members allow others to use their images. It's also possible
that the seller got the photo from the same source or from a source we
can't verify. In either case, we can't remove the listing.

The only way we can take action in a case like this is if the person who
owns the image or text writes to us directly.

If you feel strongly about this issue, I recommend that you contact the
content owner and suggest that he or she contact us. Once we hear from
the owner, we can respond appropriately.

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay.

I was wrong. The listing has just ended either by the seller or by Ebay.

By the seller, Andrew ... eBay don't end listings, they remove them completely.

Explanation: Der Verkäufer hat das Angebot vorzeitig beendet und alle Gebote gestrichen.

Maybe someone contacted the seller and hence "the seller terminated the offer prematurely........"

I'm not sure "feeble" is quite strong enough...it's absolutely pathetic. They remove stuff for all manner of petty reasons yet when someone shows them a scam they don't act on it. What's the world coming to?

Wonder if the seller "sold" the non-existent jacket off eBay?

How would this scam work ?
If the seller accepted Paypal and the jacket was a fantasy, surely the buyer would simply get their cash back when the jacket didn't arrive ?
What if there was a great jacket, but the seller just didn't have a digital camera ?[unlikely]

I would not trust this seller either. He sells quite a few A2s, but makes wild claims for each jacket. Every contract he sells dates back to the early 30s! He has a habit of not putting up pics with his listing for some time. He also has a size 46 Aero A2 up for sale, but no pics yet.

Miles, "feeble" was tongue in cheek". I would say Ebay's resonse was deplorable and doesn't inspire confidence in the way it deals with serious concerns.
