Hi all,
Wanted to share this acquisition with the gang. It’s an American Sportswear Co. N288s-24332 from 1943, in a less common size 46. Conmar zipper. Was one of two contracts for the AN-J-3A for American Sportswear. The other was N288s-28627. Per Jan and co’s excellent Navy jacket synopsis, there was in fact no Type AN-6552. Rather, the jacket is marked as AN-6552 but current research has deemed the AN-6552 to actually be under specification AN-J-3A.
Everything appears original (unsure of wrist knits) excellent goatskin with a nice shine. Mouton collar balding in some areas. Worn but not overly so.
Pics are below. Thanks for looking!
