Aero painted B-3 46

True John about wearing the jacket. Such painted B-3s could be worn at air shows when the weather is chilly.

Or in the privacy of one's home while moderating

Maybe a good artist could salvage the art on the back, and create a new squadron insignia.

I guess the artwork is of the sort of naive style that was often seen on AAF jackets during the War, although I'd have preferred that it wasn't there too. I notice Aero seem to have stopped using thinner sheepskin for B-3 cuffs, resulting in those big donuts of fur. My old one never had that.

Ken if you are listening..we prefer short wool on the cuffs !
I remember a seal monotone I bought in the used section about 12 years ago. Sold it to Bombs away or Bomdsgone.
Great jacket should have kept it.

All things considered, the art work is tasteful. The newest moderator would look sharp in this or he going to go for the revised Aero RAF late model Irvin?

I might go for the late Irvin.
Re the artwork,I think a rams head and a thunderbolt would look good. The thing is we Brits don't go for show,we are a shy lot until someone pi##es of off then we fight to the death.

I think the artwork is fine, girl looks decent with good proportions, not overdone in airbrush or paintbrush. Any better or worse, there would be comments about it here anyway. Looks to be done in the traditional style with a paintbrush, new painting on a new jacket. After being worn for a few years it'll look perfect providing it's not done in acrylic. Actually looks like what a lot of guys here consider an accurate rendering of WW2 jacket art.

Not many here are big on decorating jackets including myself, I prefer plain no matter what it is and it's my job to brighten these things up. We are a small and picky group gentlemen, plenty of buyers out there looking to decorate their stuff. One in particular just informed me that he's got 20 Eastmans, all done up with my patches. So to reference another thread, maybe that's why Gary won't sell his new elite without the patches. Believe me, he's selling loads of them no matter what the opinions are here.

I agree the back paint job is not too bad, but the squadron patch is horrible. Originals of that one are really neat....hand painted incised Italian leather....had one once many years ago that I foolishly let slip away.
