AERO A2 FROM A FAMILIAR SELLER

Does this guy never give up? He is now selling an original Aero which has what appears to be a repro label on it which has been crudely distressed(sandpaper again?) to make it appear original.
This particular Aero is most unlikely from the last Aero contract (which is marked on the repro label) as the appearance of the leather and the Crown zip strongly suggest the two previous contracts.

Andrew,
I don't recall Aeros having crown zips. I know Roughwears did as did Dubow etc but not Aero. You ever see any for real with a crown?

If this is indeed the case, what has happened to him....?!? Why would someone mess up a good previous reputation and many years of collecting/dealing, sad if true.

The W535ac21996 contract had Crowns or Talons. JC features one with the original Crown on his CD and I have seen others with Crowns on Ebay.

andrew is correct. aeros had both crowns and talons [sometimes brass talons as well]. pre war aeros had the more complicated "hookless" style talon zipper.

Funny how the label is 'worn' yet the stitching around it looks as though it was done yesterday.

While the stitching appears in the photo to be quite new, doesn't sewing on the label require access to the 'inside' of the liner, behind the label? I don't see any other stitching that has been re-done on the lining to suggest that the 'inside' of the lining behind the label has been accessed.

I love this hobby, always something new to learn... I didn't know about Aero using Crowns. This old dog has learnt a new trick today!

The knits and waistband are recent replacements and when the latter is removed one has access to the back of the lining. It is quite easy to hand sew a label on without having access to the back of the lining. There are some stitch holes near the top right of the label where the original entry/exit stitching would have been when the jacket had the correct earlier label.

I think you also have to ask yourself, what would cause such localized, central abrasion to the label, yet leave the stitching without so much as a pulled strand?

The Color of the thread on the label doesn't match the thread on the rest of the Jacket does it?

You do see contrasting thread colour used on untampered with originals, but in this case the work was done c.2009. It is currently selling for an inflated price, which would not be the case if the seller was honest about the label.
