I still cannot believe that people would sell something like this. If I had a jacket like this with that sort of history, belonging to my Dad, nothing, and I mean nothing would induce me to sell it. But I guess we're not all the same, and we don't know the circumstances.

I agree. Every so often I manage to contact descendants of the original owner of a provenanced piece, and get it back to them, and they're always soooo grateful. Seems like no one selling an heirloom ever offers it to a cousin or whatever, first. It's a pity.
