Gents...

Bounced around last night and this one lasted under one hour. I was hoping my agent would have pounced in time, but alas, no.

Someone out there just scored a BR B-2 for under $500. I have seen the prices for BR stuff in Japan tumbling. I picked up my BR A-2 in super shape for under US$400 a few weeks back. Give eBay the flick and buy direct from Japan!

Cheers..

About the only thing I can read are the numbers, the rest is entirely japanese to me.
If I bid I'd probably end up never knowing if I won or not, if I'd receive an invoice I wouldn't recognize it as one, not to mention that I would not be able to request to downvalue the jacket on the shipping customs form to avoid overtaxing.

I do browse occasionally to see what's about though, which I shouldn't do because I just got my butt kicked by my wife for having way too many jackets.

You mention an agent, is he a feller you just happen to know and is helping you out, or is that an agent who does this stuff for anyone interested doing deals in Japan?

I understand that the Japanese don't like to buy second hand, that would explain low residual values.

Prices are just coming down. A Superior Togs green knit L-2A in a 40 just went for Y5000, just over $50. Some pilling and decal wear but that was about it.

where is all of this listed? Where does one search online for used Japanese items?

Not true. There is a huge used clothing market in Japan.

I mostly get outbid, so someone in Japan wants these jackets more than I am willing to pay!!

But you have your % and shipping to pay on top, and now the issue of the strong Japanese Yen. To be honest, had I seen that B2 I wouldn't have bought it. It's not my size and more than US$500 (not less Couchy) doesn't make it an easy money spinner with the world's economy as it is now, especially as Eastman were offering them discounted recently so presumably not that easy a jacket to shift.

I saw that L-2A. It didn't look very appealing from the listing and I had other things going on at the weekend so I didn't bother putting on a bid.

Aussie Dollars are strong and that price is still under AU$500. I moved around 40 jackets in 2008-09 and the exchange rate did the work. It is harder today, and I need to pick and choose. A $75 BR L-2A should still hit nearly $200 even with a worn decal. But it was ideal for a 335th FBS patch! And it was a green knit after all. I let a green lined Superior Togs go last week. That only hit 20000. So around $250 for a hard to find one. No one would complain at a $1000 BR B-2 in a 44. I am sure people here have paid more.

Of course, had I put in a bid on the L-2A the original bidder may have countered and who knows what the final price would have been.
