A-2 name tag question

Ties is currently working on an 850th BS patch that I'm likely going to add to a BK Star. The patch is being done as a tribute to a late friend's uncle, who was a B-17 pilot in the 850th. I believe that I'll likely add a name tag with his name on it as well.

Can anyone please confirm if Jr. suffixes were used on WWII era name tags?

Is there anywhere aside from A2jacketpatches.com that I should order the name tag from? I'm not sure if they are U.S. based.

Thanks in advance!

A2jacketpatches used to be a member here. He hasn’t been around in a while but he might still be following the forum . Try giving him a PM.

Thanks Burt. Is it Sean Collins that runs that site or someone else?

Edit: Apologies...please disregard the above. After doing some additional research, it appears that MASH likely has name tags that most resemble originals. I need to order a few things from there, so I'll grab a name tag and possibly some spares.

The only question that I would have would be as to which option should I go with. A.C.'s full name is listed as Jr. on the documents that I have copies of.

Nothing constructive to add Luke other than say this is an awesome tribute with real meaning.

Look forward to seeing the final result!

Thanks Chris! I can't wait to see Ties' finished work. I know it will look amazing. The hardest part was locating examples of the patch that's not easily found.

Even though I never met A.C., my late friend told me many stories about him for nearly two decades. I even have a set of wings that A.C. gifted to his nephew/ my friend when he returned from the ETO.

notice that the name tag was stitched below the the patch,, close to the pocket flap. this was a carry over from the 1920s-30s placement. I wonder if there was an official aac-aaf "regulation" dictating name tag placements at some time, as ive seen name tags stitched all over the place on original a-2 jackets.....same with group and squadron patches.

Good point!

As far as i remember i saw them nametags more often on top of the squadron-patch rather than below but never seen/heard of any official regulations anyway.
