It would be great to see some more pics. This one appears to be the no-name maker 42-18246-P, which JC believes was made by S.H. Knopf of Boston. I have a size 44 original, but without the shoulder decal.

Has it got internal pocket(s)? There appears to be stitiching running above the pocket and what looks like a vent-hole or reverse of a snap there. I know from WW2 photos that many units other than the 352nd that ELC replicate had rigger-made internal pockets fitted. An interesting jacket

Now looking at it again it does appear to have theatre-made inside pockets. I do believe that is the back of a snap, Paul.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it does have an inner pocket-the stitching is quite clear on close examination, with the snap for closure. There's some box-stitching for reinforcement at the top corners.

wow, i 'd never notice that.
many thanks for the info and details.
pitty my jacket is already done by J C, because knowing this ''field modification'', if i knew that in the time; for sure i had request John to make a copy of this jacket.

Won't hurt to ask - my Wife's Uncle was with the 8th and they have some info on him in the library there. There's quite a few jackets there, I'll do my best next month!

I saw this jacket when we were at the 8th museum several years ago. I noticed the interior pockets...but that A2 was behind glass then..so couldn't tell just how the pockets were added. However...I did like the fact that the stitching didn't look so noticable or as bold as the ELC repro version. At that time the museum did have quite a few A2s scattered about...and several shearlings(B3s..if I remember correctly).
Van
PS...Not nearly as many jackets as Dayton, tho.

Was back down yesterday and this particular jacket was no longer on display - I took some pics of the A-2s and B-3s that are currently on display and will post when I'm back home. I happened to hit the museum on "Super Sunday", admission was free and the entire population of Savannah had seemingly piled in but I still managed a few shots - coming soon!
