1959 Royal Canadian Navy 'G-1' Jacket

Hello everyone,

Canadian Naval Aviation has been gone for nearly half a century now.
So, it's always cool to find old remnants of a time now long gone.
To the best of my knowledge, these RCN G-1 jackets were made from horsehide with 'lightning' zippers (Canadian subsidiary of Talon).
Please note: the jacket is not mine.

I've seen three of these come up on kijiji in the last 6-7 years, small sizes but damn I should have pulled the trigger anyways.

That one is in a very fine condition!

Damn … that’s a fine looking G-1 .

Looks almost like a LW Foster 55J14 had a baby 1952 Monarch.
Long body, scalloped pocket flaps of the Foster 55J14 and the collar of the 1952 Monarch 7823(AER).
Then again, I'm just talking out my arse!

It looks like it could be a 55J14 or 7823(AER) type G-1. But not from a known USN contractor. The outward give away being the unique zip, pockets & flaps.

That’s cool, not come across such a thing before. I know it’s hard to tell, but that looks more like goat than horse to me. Also looking at the stitching, I would say that’s not the original zip, although it’s a nice one.
